The 49ers placed receiver Kendrick Bourne back on the COVID-19/reserve list Monday.

Bourne missed the 49ers’ loss to Green Bay on Thursday because of a positive COVID-19 test result the preceding Tuesday, but the team removed him from the reserve list after he subsequently registered consecutive negative tests.

It does not necessarily mean that he tested positive for the virus, the story said. The list is also for players who’ve had close-contact exposure to symptomatic or positive individuals. Bourne’s status for the 49ers’ game on Sunday at New Orleans appears to be in jeopardy. Coach Kyle Shanahan said last week that Samuel has a chance to return for this contest, so Bourne’s potential absence might mean that the 49ers’ top wideout trio would consist of Samuel, Aiyuk and James, the story added.

According to Adam Schefter on Twitter, San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Kendrick Bourne remains ruled out for Thursday Night Football despite it being revealed that his positive test for COVID-19 was a false positive.

Interesting news to say the least. Bourne will remain sidelined in Week 9 despite being healthy, which means that Trent Taylor and Richie James are expected to operate as the 49ers top two receivers on Thursday night. Richie James is our 36th ranked receiver for Week 9.

Browns tight end Austin Hooper returned to practice Wednesday after undergoing an appendectomy.

Hooper missed two games and then had a bye week to recover from his surgery. He should slot back into his starting role, although he has been an inconsistent fantasy asset all season. Hooper's return puts him back on the streaming radar at a shallow position, but he does not carry much upside.

ESPN's Adam Schefter reports that the 49ers have closed team facilities Wednesday after wide receiver Kendrick Bourne testied positive for COVID-19. Schefter notes that as of right now, Thursday Night Football between the 49ers and Packers is still set to be played tomorrow night.

Thursday Night Football is still tentatively set for tomorrow, but that could change later today in light of Bourne's positive test and the possibility he had contact with other players or staff. Fantasy managers with 49ers or Packers will need to monitor the news over the next 24 hours to make sure the game is played as scheduled.

49ers coach Kyle Shanahan said RB Tevin Coleman will be out this week with knee injury.

Not a surprise as Coleman left Week 8 early after just returning to the lineup. Sources say Walter will be promoted to the roster from the practice squad, but most of the work should go to Hasty and McKinnon on Thursday night against the Packers. With Jimmy Garoppolo and George Kittle also out, fantasy output may be hard to come by for 49er plays.

Browns coach Kevin Stefanski said TE Austin Hooper (appendectomy) will definitely be able to face Texans on Nov. 15. Stefanski said he feels good about how RB Nick Chubb (knee) and RG Wyatt Teller (calf) are progressing.

The return of Chubb isn't set in stone but it sounds like he's progressing. That would force Hunt back into a split of the workload at least. At TE, Bryant and Njoku take a hit as Hooper would return to the TE1 role. According to the tweet, we should get more updates as the Browns progress through their Week 9 bye.

49ers RB Tevin Coleman left Sunday’s game against the Seahawks with a knee injury and was ruled out for the remainder of the game. It’s very unfortunate as he had just been activated from injured reserve. JaMycal Hasty took over as the lead back and has scored a touchdown, though Sunday has been pretty rough for the 49ers with Jimmy Garoppolo and George Kittle also limping off the field.
