Bengals TE C.J. Uzomah (shoulder) took limited practice reps Wednesday. Uzomah is a good streaming option for Week 7 and Week 8 (versus Tampa, last in the league in TE aFPA), and is a cheap way to get a piece of the Cincinnati passing attack in a great matchup against the Chiefs. Last week, against the Steelers, he posted 6-54 on seven targets.

Bengals TE Tyler Eifert (ankle, out) missed practice all week and is out for Week 5. He’s out for the year. When Eifert went down, the initial response from fantasy owners was to pick up Tyler Kroft, but C.J. Uzomah has actually run ahead of Kroft this season. Uzomah’s snaps spiked (70%) in Eifert’s injury game and he has run three times as many pass routes as Kroft has this season, so indications are that he’ll step in as the starter. The matchup isn’t great, but Cincinnati’s offense is rolling, so don’t be surprised if Uzomah posts 50–60 yards and a touchdown.

Terrell's educated guess falls in line with a season-long trend in these two players’ snap counts, with Uzomah seeing more playing time than Kroft in each of the Bengals' four games. Overall, Uzomah has played 159 snaps to only 92 from Kroft, including a 51 to 19 split Week 4, the game Tyler Eifert broke his ankle. In case you've been sleeping under a rock, tight end is an abject disaster this year, making Uzomah instantly worthy of consideration in your lineups. He is our number 13 tight end this week in a home game against the Dolphins.

Bengals’ TE Tyler Eifert broke his ankle and is expected to undergo surgery, per source. Another tough-luck season is over for Eifert.

Fantasy Impact:

Kroft recorded seven TDs last year, but has only four catches this season. Uzomah has seven catches this year for 74 yards.

Bengals TE Tyler Eifert suffered an apparent ankle injury.

Fantasy Impact:

It was tough to watch and you have to feel terrible for Eifert, who was having a nice season returning from a back injury and missing so much time to injury in his career. Kroft is likely to take his place in the receiving game as Uzomah is more of a blocker.

Against Indianapolis, Tyler Eifert played 23 snaps (including a play nullified by penalty). That was 40 percent of the offensive plays. With the Bengals looking to utilize his skills on third down and in the passing game, the package of plays he participated in mostly stayed in that area.

He was in on seven of the team’s eight third downs.

Marvin Lewis said the amount each of the three tight ends plays will vary for each week.

Fantasy Impact:

Uzomah is mostly used in the blocking game and Kroft (18 snaps) saw a diminished role in the offense after coming back from an injury this preseason. Eifert is the TE to own from a fantasy standpoint, but it sounds like all of them will be involved and the Bengals feel they are deep at the position.
