Speaking after the game, Seahawks coach Pete Carroll called the injury a "badly sprained finger" and said it was too early to put a timetable on Russell Wilson's return. Carroll said he didn't know if Wilson will need surgery.

The good news is the Seahawks have a few extra days to get a plan in place for Wilson. The bad news is surgery has not been ruled out, which would put Wilson and the Seahawks offense in a precarious position.

The informal unveiling of the Seahawks’ new offense could not have gone much better Sunday. Russell Wilson and the No. 1 offense needed just three minutes to cover 82 yards on eight plays, an opening drive that ended with a Chris Carson 1-yard touchdown run.

Wilson acknowledged after the mock game that he essentially called all the plays at the line of scrimmage during the opening drive.

Wilson has expressed a desire to get the offense going faster, the story said. Over the past two seasons, the offense was often at its best in no-huddle, two-minute situations. But a counter to this is when it doesn't work and it puts more pressure on the Seahawks defense when the offense plays fast and goes three-and-out. The story added HC Pete Carroll likely won't stand for that so it so it will be interesting to see how much patience he has.

Shane Waldron has taken over the offense for the Seahawks. Waldron has brought with him some staples of the Rams offense — notably, running the same play out of multiple formations, and using more presnap motion, each tactic designed to confuse the defense, the story said. Russell Wilson is under contract with Seattle for three more seasons, and does not have a trade clause in his contract. The Seahawks seem to not be taking any of these inquiries seriously, so unless we see a 180 from the organization, Wilson should be under center for Seattle in 2021.

To view Jalen Hurts as the Eagles’ likely quarterback of the future would be a mistake. The most likely scenario is that Hurts is not the long-term answer. That’s not me being harsh and counting a guy out before he even starts a game. That’s just what history tells us. From 2008 to 2017 (I’m using this range so that we get at least three full years of each player), 24 quarterbacks were taken on Day 2 of the draft. Among that group, six became starters: Russell Wilson, Derek Carr, Colin Kaepernick, Nick Foles, Andy Dalton and Jimmy Garoppolo. This is not complex math, but we can say that the chances based on that sample of finding a starter in the second or third round is roughly 25 percent.

Over the first 10 weeks of the season, no team dropped back to pass as often as the Seattle Seahawks. Their offense went through Russell Wilson more than ever before, especially during the three games they played without their top two running backs, Chris Carson and Carlos Hyde.

But signs point to a shift back to their more familiar run-heavy approach.

HC Pete Carroll's comments over the last few weeks seem to indicate the Seahawks are better with a more balanced offense. The story said the team's dropback rate over the first 10 weeks was tops in the NFL at 69.2%. Seattle was 31st in dropback rate at 54.9% from 2018 to 2019, Brian Schottenheimer's first two seasons as their offensive coordinator. Their rate increased to 71.9% in Weeks 8-10 as Carson (foot sprain) and Hyde (hamstring) were both sidelined. But with Hyde back against Arizona, Seattle's dropback rate fell to 62.3%.

WR Josh Gordon passed his physical with the Seahawks on Saturday.

The plan now for Gordon is to practice this week with the hope of playing Monday night against the 49ers. Obviously Wilson benefits the most with another target as he continues to be an MVP favorite and this should only help him.
