With Sam Bradford now in Minnesota, who will be the Eagles’ starting quarterback Week 1 against the Cleveland Browns? Before the trade occurred, Chase Daniel and Carson Wentz were second and third on the depth chart, respectively. However, according to ESPN’s Adam Caplan, the Eagles hope to start Wentz over Daniel if he is fully recovered from the rib injury he suffered in Week 1 of the preseason.
Choosing to start Wentz over Daniel makes sense, especially considering Daniel’s lackluster performance this preseason.
Daniel hasn't looked great but it's been a small sample size for Wentz, who suffered a rib injury in the first preseason game. Wentz's high upside gives him at least some lower-end QB2 or streaming value, however, he doesn't have the greatest WRs to work with despite the addition of Dorial Green-Beckham, who has looked good. Even if Daniel starts Week 1, it's only a matter of time before Wentz takes over. It may take a few weeks for this offense to click with so many moving parts leading up to the start of the season.
