Eagles coach Doug Pederson announced that rookie QB Carson Wentz will start Week 1.
Wentz is healthy and ready to roll, Rapoport added in his tweet. Wentz is going to need some time to develop with his young receivers but is worth a stash especially in deeper leagues, or two-QB leagues. He was injured the first preseason game so he didn't get a lot of live game reps, especially with the first team. But the Eagles saw enough of him in practice to trade starter Sam Bradford and jump Wentz ahead of Chase Daniel. Wentz certainly has more upside than Daniel, especially due to his running ability. Expect some inconsistency and growing pains at least over the first few weeks but also some flashes of potential.
