Kevin Smith expects to undergo surgery

Lions running back Kevin Smith will visit noted orthopedic specialist Dr. James Andrews in Birmingham, Ala., today. And Smith said he expects to undergo surgery to repair a torn ACL in his left knee.

"I mean, I go tomorrow, so hopefully I won't leave Alabama without having the surgery," Smith said Sunday. "And hopefully I come back a new man. ... I'm just ready to get surgery and get back."
