North County Times: Chargers TE Antonio Gates was able to stiff-
arm the pain in his sprained ankle to catch eight passes for 87
yards - both were team highs. Gates was hurt in the final regular-
season game against the Broncos and didn't practice all week.
He'll be day-to-day leading into the divisional playoff game.
