The Vikings know that today's opponent, the Lions, are improved, but they also need Brett Favre and his receivers to snap out of it. They can't simply rely on Adrian Peterson. In nine games in the Metrodome last year, Favre was intercepted only twice.

Bernard Berrian is known as a speed receiver, a true deep threat. But he hasn’t been separating from defenders and people are wondering why. One reason Berrian's play has been questioned is his salary. The Vikings signed him away from the Bears in 2008 as a free agent to a $42 million, six-year contract that included a $16 million signing bonus. By the end of this season, the 29-year-old receiver will have collected $23 million.

“There’s still a lot of work to be done, but we’re close,” Berrian said last week. “There are a lot of things we see good on the field, there’s a lot of things we see bad on the field. It’s all working negatively right now.”

The good news here is that Favre has never lost in 18 home games against the Lions. Not in Lambeau, Milwaukee or Minneapolis.
