Fantasy Football Week 3 Recap: 14 Things You Need To Know
Another Sunday is in the books. We certainly saw some unexpected results in Week 3. As usual, we also saw some outstanding fantasy performances. There were stars that did not live up to expectations and a number of players were lost due to injury. Time to sort out all of the day’s action.
Bright Stars
Lamar Jackson had another monster day. It was the third straight Sunday that he has passed for at least three touchdowns. Like last week, he also scored on the ground and topped 100 yards rushing. Jackson is now the quarterback with the most 100+ rushing yard games in NFL history.
Hand in glove with Jackson’s big day, his favorite target, Mark Andrews starred Sunday, as well. Andrews was on the receiving end of two Jackson touchdown passes, racking up eight catches for 89 yards in the victory over New England.
Jalen Hurts threw for three scores as he led the Philadelphia Eagles to a victory over the Washington Commanders. Hurts surpassed 300 passing yards for a second straight week, throwing for 340 and no interceptions in the win. The Eagles improve to 3-0 on the season.
DeVonta Smith was a significant reason that Hurts had such a successful outing. Smith was able to reel in eight passes for 169 yards and a touchdown. After recording no catches in the season opener, Smith has seen 19 total targets in his last two games, pacing the team over that span.
Hollywood Brown hit the big time on Sunday. He saw a jaw-dropping 17 targets from quarterback Kyler Murray. Brown was able to catch 14 of them for 140 yards receiving. Brown did not find the end zone, but his rapport with Murray was encouraging for his fantasy prospects.
Hollywood. Brown.
What a day. 14th catch of the game.

Dim Stars
Justin Jefferson again had a quiet day when the Vikings squared off with the Lions. Jefferson tallied just 14 yards on his three receptions on Sunday. He saw six targets, which was the lone bright spot of his day, but fantasy managers were left disappointed for a second consecutive week.
Tua Tagovailoa returned to Earth after skyrocketing into the stratosphere last week. He threw just one touchdown following his six touchdown output in Week 2. Tagovailoa managed only 186 yards in the game. Still, the Dolphins maintained their perfect record by handing the Buffalo Bills their first defeat of the year.
Russell Wilson had similar stats to Tagovailoa in Denver’s matchup against the 49ers. Wilson threw for 184 yards and was unable to record a passing touchdown for the first time this year. He has struggled thus far to regain his old form in a Bronco uniform.
Rising Stars?
Rookie Chris Olave had the most significant performance of his career to date. Olave managed to post 147 yards on nine receptions. He had 13 targets on the day and his longest catch was a 49-yarder from quarterback Jameis Winston.
DeVante Parker re-emerged as a fantasy-relevant player in Week 3. He was Mac Jones’ preferred target, picking up five catches for 156 yards. Parker led the team in catches, yards, and targets in the absence of Jakobi Meyers.
Romeo Doubs took advantage of his eight targets from Aaron Rodgers on Sunday. Working to establish himself in a receiving room without a dominant playmaker, Doubs caught each of his targets and converted them into 73 yards and a touchdown. This could be a sign of things to come, as Doubs was highly touted during the preseason.
Injury Concerns
Mac Jones was injured late in the game against the Ravens. He is reportedly dealing with a high ankle sprain and is listed as “day-to-day.” His availability for next week against the Packers is unknown.
David Montgomery exited the Chicago Bears’ contest against the Houston Texans in the first quarter. There has been little reported as to the severity of the injury. In his stead, Khalil Herbert was effective at running the football. Herbert carried 20 times for 157 yards and a pair of rushing scores. He will be a priority on the waiver wire.
Dalvin Cook left the Vikings’ game early with a shoulder injury, but not before he totaled 96 yards and added a rushing touchdown in the Minnesota victory. The injury is being reported as a dislocated shoulder, yet Cook remains optimistic about playing next week. Alexander Mattison, who ran for a touchdown following Cook’s departure, should be added in all leagues.
#Vikings RB Dalvin Cook’s shoulder dislocated again today, as it has in the past, and he'll be OK, per sources.
Cook has an unrepaired labral tear and wasn't wearing a harness. As @ProFootballTalk said, the hope is Cook will harness up and play next Sunday vs. the #Saints.
