With only four healthy receivers on the roster look for rookie wide receiver Armanti Edwards to be active for the first time this season. Edwards said it’s been “disappointing” being inactive the first four games of the season, but added, “I’ve just tried to take the pointers and come out here and get better everyday.”
The Panthers used the “Mountaineer” package in the preseason with Edwards at quarterback, but it’s unclear if they’ll trot that out against the Bears.
For now, Edwards just wants to help out at receiver.
“Who knows?” Edwards said. “Hopefully we dress out four receivers this week and I’ll get a chance to be in that rotation.”
Edwards said he feels more confident in his route running and playing receiver, saying he’s been studying extra hard so he knows the plays and doesn’t have to spend extra time thinking.
