Heraldonline.com: Panthers wide receiver D.j. Hackett will miss
this week's game, and perhaps several more, after suffering a
sprained medial collateral ligament in last week's win over Kansas
City. The wide receiver was hurt on the game's opening kickoff
after he was pressed into special teams duties. His knee went out
on him, causing him to fall awkwardly into Chiefs safety DaJuan
Morgan, drawing a penalty for a low block in the process. His
agent, Kevin Robinson, said Tuesday that Hackett wasn't sure about
the length of his absence, but that this week was out. He'll
likely be replaced this week by Dwayne Jarrett, who's been
inactive since CAR WR S. Smith's return. The second-round pick caught
two passes for 36 yards during the first two games in which Smith
was suspended.
