Fantasy Football Trader's Alley Week 9: Players to Buy, Hold, and Sell
Trading can be quite a frustrating task in fantasy football. It is seemingly impossible to put together an offer that makes both sides happy, and communicating with other league members can also be difficult. In the Trader’s Alley, I’m going to try and guide you through making trades in your league this season. Using 4for4’s powerful trade evaluator tool, I’ll highlight players to buy, sell, and hold each week, and also create some hypothetical trades based on what the tool tells us.
This article will assume the following starting roster settings: 1 QB, 2 RB, 3 WR, 1 TE, 1 FLEX. Feel free to change the configurations to fit your league in the trade evaluator yourself.
By the time you’re reading this, the NFL trade deadline will have passed, which means trading spirits should be flying high around your league. With just six weeks separating us from the fantasy playoffs, now is a better time than ever to improve your team for the stretch run. Without further ado, let’s get into some of the top buy, hold, and sell candidates after Week 8 of the NFL season.
Sell DeAndre Hopkins
I hate to be a Debbie Downer, but it would be irresponsible of me to list Hopkins as anything but a sell-high after his four-catch, three-touchdown performance on Sunday. Although rookie quarterback Will Levis had an incredible debut and could be the long-term answer for the Titans, I don’t see Hopkins’ trade value getting much higher than it is right now. He has been rather inconsistent the whole year, and Levis is bound to experience the same struggles that all rookie quarterbacks endure.
I’d try to move Hopkins for a lower-end RB1 like Saquon Barkley or Bijan Robinson as I think he’ll continue to be an inconsistent option. I’d also be open to trading him for a more dependable receiver like Zay Flowers or Christian Kirk.
