Week 14 IDP Waiver Wire: Pickups & Targets (Fantasy Football 2023)

The football seasons just go quicker and quicker. It felt like just last week, I was writing up Week 1 of the IDP waiver wire, and here we are, Week 14 and the beginning of the fantasy playoffs. We had a few big injuries this week with Jerome Baker. It's never a good thing to lose a three-down LB this close to the end of the season. Luckily, one more bye week; Arizona and Washington.

Let's get to it and who you should look to target from your IDP waiver for Week 14.

Linebacker

Nephi Sewell, LB, New Orleans Saints

Pete Werner was inactive in Week 13, and who knows how long he’ll be out. In his absence, it was Nephi Sewell who took his spot.

Sewell’s IDP value will hinge on Werner’s availability, but he made the most of his snaps this week. Although he didn’t have a full-time role, Sewell was on the field for 72% of the snaps and was graded as the Saint's best defensive player (85.2), according to PFF.

He didn’t miss on any of his tackle attempts and produced a 19% tackle rate - resulting in eight tackles; including five solos. Here, he recognizes the direct snap to David Montgomery and uses the blocker’s momentum to drive him into Montgomery and get the tackle:

Sewell looked like the best defender on the field, and if I’m a Werner owner, I’m afraid of getting Wally Pipped. As long as Werner is out, I’d feel comfortable with Sewell as my LB3/4 in deeper leagues.
