Beacon News: The Bears will not practice until Wednesday and QB
Kyle Orton would be given the opportunity to play with limited
work in practice this week as Smith works to run his record at
Green Bay to 5-0. Orton said he has not been given any timeline
for how long he will be out by anyone. "It's just been a continual
process," he said. "I get there in the morning, we evaluate it.
We've seen improvement in it that's been made since the day before
and we just go from there, so we haven't put a specific time (on
it). They haven't told me it's going to be this long or it could
be this long. We just take it day by day and it's good to see it
progressing.'' Orton didn't want to say he could have made a
difference against a talented Tennessee defense that was minus its
best pass rushing end in Kyle Vanden Bosch, who was out with a
pulled groin muscle. Grossman threw for a touchdown and ran for a
score but was off a little bit, the kind of spotty performance
most teams would expect from a backup.
