Fantasy Football Defense Streaming Week 5: Green Bay Packing the Rams

Oct 01, 2024
Defense Streaming Week 5

We pointed out last week that it would not be a good week for streaming defenses and that proved to be largely true. Defensive scoring was down this week as only seven teams scored in double digits in Week 4.

With the bye weeks starting, thankfully this looks like a much better week for streaming defenses. That said, none of the top ten rostered defenses are on bye this week. In fact, the highest-rostered defense on bye this week is Philadelphia’s and they are only rostered in 43% of Yahoo leagues. We’ll have to dive a little deeper than normal for our top defenses and even deeper for our deep dives.

Week 4 Review

Let’s get the bad out of the way first, our top streaming priority was Miami. They got off to a great start as Will Levis threw a pick on Tennessee’s first drive, but then Levis got pulled for an injury and Mason Rudolph entered the game. That turned out to be a negative for Miami as the turnover machine was out of the game. Rudolph was able to move the ball without turning the ball over and Tennessee ended up scoring 31 points.

On the positive side, the Titans were a smash as they were one of the seven teams to put up double-digit points this week. Tyler Huntley could barely move the offense and then Tyreek Hill made a business decision not to jump on backward pass. Green Bay finished as a top-half defense after causing a few turnovers. Overall, we’re at 9 hits and 5 misses this year.

Top Defensive Streaming Options for Week 3

Green Bay Packers at Los Angeles Rams

Rostered in 31% of Yahoo Leagues

Green Bay is back in the streaming defense conversation as they didn’t see a bump leading up to the game against the Vikings. The Packers continue to force turnovers and have been able to get to the quarterback. The Rams aren’t a great offense to go up against, just 14th aFPA against opposing defenses, but they have had a couple of good defensive performances against them including Arizona.

Green Bay’s ability to force turnovers and get to the quarterback is exactly what we are looking for in a streaming defense and as long as our opponents haven’t picked up on that, even mediocre matchups have upside.
