Fantasy Football Week 11 Recap: 15 Things You Need To Know

Week 11 was the second week in a row that a blocked field goal decided a divisional matchup at the last second when the Packers beat Chicago. We also saw an odd scheduling anomaly that had the Bears and Steelers playing their first divisional games of the season. Now each team will play six divisional games in their final eight matchups.

Christian Watson had a career-high 150 receiving yards. Jordan Addison made a 47-yard touchdown reception as Sam Darnold hit him in stride and he raced to the goal line. Marquez Valdes-Scantling had another long touchdown when he pulled in a 71-yard score in the second quarter. Chris Boswell kicked six field goals on a day where many kicks were missed and Caleb Williams had more rushing yards than Derrick Henry. It was an unusual week. Let’s dive right in.

Top Players

Matthew Stafford threw his first touchdown pass in Gillette Stadium. Throughout his storied NFL career, Stafford has played in 35 different NFL venues and had thrown a touchdown in every one of them except Gillette Stadium. He got his first on Sunday and followed up with his second, third, and fourth. The Rams unloaded on New England and Stafford [picked their defense apart. He ended up just five yards short of his first 300-yard output of the year.

Jared Goff had a season-high in both yards and touchdowns, doing it all in just over three quarters. He completed 24 of his 29 pass attempts, amassing 412 yards in the process. He threw four scoring strikes, hitting Jameson Williams on a crossing route that Williams raced 64 yards with to the house. Detroit flattened the Jaguars in a game that was never close. The 52-6 final was a scorigami.

Cooper Kupp had the biggest day of all the Rams’ receiving options and that is saying quite a bit. While teammate, Puka Nacua, totaled 123 yards receiving and a score, Kupp outdid him by finding the end zone two times, including a nice 69-yarder against the all-out blitz to open the third quarter. Kupp caught six passes for 106 yards as Los Angeles handed the Patriots their fourth home loss of the year.

Breece Hall did the heavy lifting for the Jets’ offense on Sunday. He carried the ball 16 times for 78 yards and a touchdown. He also had a big day receiving, catching all seven of his targets for 43 yards and a touchdown. It was his only multi-touchdown game of the year so far.

Amon-Ra St. Brown set a new high water mark in receiving yards. He caught all 11 of his targets for 161 yards. He also made two visits to the end zone. On a day when many wide receivers had impressive performances, St. Brown stood above the rest.

Brock Bowers keeps raising the bar. He saw 16 targets and secured 13 of them, both career highs. Bowers also had a career-best 126 yards. He made a highlight reel play when he slipped a Jordan Poyer tackle on a 23-yard third-quarter touchdown.

Bo Nix had his best game yet. The rookie quarterback topped 300 yards passing for the first time in his career. He completed 28 of 33 attempts for 307 yards. He also tossed four touchdown passes for the first time yet. Nix threw a touchdown in each quarter of the game.

Pop Players

Jerry Jeudy exploded on the scene for Cleveland. He made a brilliant 89-yard catch-and-run touchdown grab in the first quarter. He ended the day with a career-high 142 yards receiving. Jeudy has caught 18 passes for 293 yards and a touchdown over his past three games.

Jonnu Smith caught a 57-yard touchdown pass in the fourth quarter to put the win on ice for Miami. It was his second touchdown grab of the day after the veteran tight end opened the scoring in the first quarter. Smith pulled down six passes for 101 yards and a pair of scores. This was only the second 100+ yard performance of Smith’s eight-year career.

Anthony Richardson returned with a vengeance. After being replaced by Joe Flacco for two games. Fortunately for Richardson, Flacco underwhelmed in his opportunity, opening the door for Richardson to resume starting duties. The young quarterback made the best of the circumstances, throwing for a touchdown and rushing for two others, including the game-winner. Richardson collected 272 passing yards and 32 more on the ground.

Taysom Hill dominated fantasy matchups on Sunday. If you faced him, you probably had a lousy afternoon, but if you started him, you laughed all the way to the bank. The versatile tight end made his impact on the game in a variety of ways. He caught eight passes for 50 yards. He attempted two passes, registering an 18-yard completion and an interception. However, Hill was unstoppable on the ground, rushing for 138 yards and three touchdowns, including a 75-yard sideline dash that saw him leaving defenders in his dust.

Flop Players

Garrett Wilson recorded a season-low in receiving yards on Sunday as the Jets watched their season’s hopes evaporate with a loss against Indianapolis. Despite leading the team in targets, Wilson was a non-factor in the offense. He caught four passes and gained a paltry 18 yards.

Nick Chubb no longer resembles his old self. If you, like me, thought you were rostering a high-end running back for a playoff run, it has not worked out for you. His season-high in rushing is 52 yards and he has scored only one touchdown in the four games in which he has appeared.

Drop? Players

Alexander Mattison exited the Raiders’ loss against Miami on Sunday. He reportedly suffered an ankle injury. Mattison did not return to the contest. Prior to the injury, Mattison ran for 19 yards and caught three passes for 50 yards.

Jordan Addison left the game during the Vikings’ win in Tennessee. Head coach, Kevin O’Connell later reported that Addison was dealing with cramping and his future availability is not in question.
