Week 13 Recap: 14 Things You Need To Know

Week 13 had some surprises in store for us. There were four games played before Sunday came, but with no teams on bye, there was still plenty of action left to come. We saw 45 points scored in the first half of the Steelers and Bengals matchup. That was the most in the opening half of any of the 110 meetings between the teams. Nick Westbrook-Ikhine keeps catching touchdowns. He had two more on Sunday to bring his total to eight on the year on just 20 receptions. Leonard Williams had a revenge game for the ages against his former club. The 300-pound defensive end racked up two sacks and secured an interception that had him rumbling 92 yards down the sideline for a house call. Then the Bills beat the 49ers inside a snow globe. What a week!

Top Players

Russell Wilson threw for the most first-half yards in his career. He had 267 yards passing at the intermission. He would go on to finish his day with 414 yards and a trio of touchdowns. After opening the game by throwing a pick-six on his first drive, Wilson settled in nicely and it seemed he could do no wrong. He completed 29 passes, a season-high, in leading the Steelers to a victory over division rival, Cincinnati, in a high-scoring affair.

Jayden Daniels keeps bringing joy to fantasy managers who took a chance on him. The Commanders decimated Tennessee and the rookie signal-caller was a huge part of it. Daniels threw three touchdowns for the first time in his young career. He added another score on the ground. He completed 25 of 30 pass attempts for 206 yards while rushing for 34 yards on nine carries.

Bijan Robinson netted 26 carries for 102 yards and a touchdown in a losing effort for Atlanta. He also made six grabs for 33 yards. Robinson’s 32 touches were a career-high. With his increased involvement this season, Robinson is likely to be on many fantasy championship teams.

Bucky Irving has emerged as a reliable option at running back. He set career numbers on Sunday when he rushed for 152 yards on 25 carries. He found the end zone and brought in all three of his passing targets for an additional 33 yards.

Terry McLaurin was the biggest beneficiary of Daniels’ big afternoon. McLaurin was on the receiving end of two touchdown strikes. He captured eight of eight targets for 73 yards in the rout.

Josh Allen is unaffected by snowfall. Despite playing the game in a steady flurry of white, Allen did things even he had not done before. He threw a touchdown pass to himself with a little help from Amari Cooper on the hook and ladder. He also ran a touchdown in the old-fashioned way.

Pop Players

Najee Harris was tough to stop in Pittsburgh’s slugfest win over Cincinnati. He had his second-highest yardage total of the season with 129 scrimmage yards. Harris had 16 carries for 75 yards and a touchdown while enjoying his biggest game as a receiver this year. Harris pulled in all six targets aimed in his direction for 54 yards.

Parker Washington played the type of game that fantasy managers had been clamoring for him to play since Christian Kirk broke his collarbone. Washington snagged six receptions for 103 and a touchdown. He also caught a two-point conversion on the game’s final touchdown. Washington saw a total of 12 targets during the game.

Flop Players

Kirk Cousins took the blame for an Atlanta loss to the Chargers. It made sense that Cousins told reporters he needed to play better after he threw four interceptions.

T.J. Hockenson hauled in three catches for 28 yards. The tight end is struggling to find his footing this year after missing the first seven games of the season. He has three or fewer catches in three of his five appearances thus far.

Cooper Kupp was a non-factor for the Rams in their victory in New Orleans. The veteran receiver made just three catches for 17 yards. It was a quiet day for the Rams’ passing attack as quarterback, Matthew Stafford, only threw for 183 yards.

Drop? Players

Trevor Lawrence was knocked out of the game by a brutal late hit delivered by Azeez Al-Shaair. Lawrence remained down on the field after the play. A brawl ensued over the hit. Al-Shaair was ejected from the game and could be facing a suspension. Lawrence was carted to the locker room.

Taysom Hill was carted off the field in the fourth quarter of the Saints’ loss on Sunday. He sustained a knee injury as he was tackled converting a fourth down play. He was taken to the locker room and did not return to the game.

Christian McCaffrey cannot catch a break. He was taken to the locker room in the second quarter of the 49ers’ defeat on Sunday night. McCaffrey suffered an injury to his knee and slid down without being contacted on the play. The team believes the injury to be serious.
