Chiefs QB Matt Cassel (illness doubtful) missed practice again Friday and is doubtful for Sunday. Cassel underwent an appendectomy Wednesday morning. Cassel hasn't been ruled out for the week, and it may technically come down to a game-time decision, but at this point he's an extreme longshot to suit up. Brodie Croyle has taken all the first team reps and will most likely start for the Chiefs.
We expect Croyle to be a downgrade from Cassel, but it shouldn't be considerable. The Chiefs are already the #1 running team in the NFL. Expect them to lean even more on the run this week against a good Chargers defense in a huge divisional game. That said, Croyle should continue to look to Dwayne Bowe, the #1 fantasy WR through 14 weeks. In 9 games with Croyle starting, Dwayne Bowe has 43 receptions, 511 yards & 4TDs.
