By season’s end, it hardly would be a surprise if the Green Bay Packers and the New Orleans Saints were the two highest-scoring offenses in the NFL.

Both have an elite quarterback and their receiving corps might be the deepest in the league.

If anything will separate them at season’s end, it could be whether halfback Mark Ingram is the player many NFL scouts projected before the Saints traded into the bottom of the first round to select him in this year’s draft.

If he’s a difference-maker as a rookie, the Saints probably would have the most diverse offense in the league.

"I think (Ingram) has the ability to have a pretty significant role on our team as the season progresses," Saints quarterback Drew Brees said Sunday. "He’s a really talented back and he’s got great instincts and he’s a pure runner. He’s obviously a great addition to our backfield."
