Titans QB Situation

At least there's no question about who the team's QB starter will be this fall — veteran Kerry Collins returns and should benefit from the new options on offense.

But everyone who wants to dismiss the notion that there's a competition for the No. 2 job better think again.

All things equal, the Titans would love for Vince Young to blow veteran Patrick Ramsey — and Collins, for that matter — out of the water and succeed. It would make them look better after investing so much in Young after picking him third overall in the 2006 draft. It's uncertain whether it's ever going to work for Young in Nashville, and there are those inside the organization who think that it won't.

That brings us to Ramsey. The journeyman QB is familiar with OC Mike Heimerdinger's offense, and he's never going to be a distraction. The same can't be said for Young, who also has this contract situation lurking — his cap number skyrockets to more than $14 million next year.
