Gary Horton of Scouts Inc. listed Packers WR Randall Cobb as the #1 breakout player in the NFC: "He was a dynamic return specialist as a rookie and showed a lot of explosiveness in the open field. He caught 25 passes in 2011, and his quickness and yards-after-catch ability are off the charts. But more importantly for a young player, he had few drops. With so many weapons in this spread passing game, it will be tough to give Cobb any more than single coverage from the opposition's third- or fourth-best corner."
ESPN NFC North blogger Kevin Seifert added: "Cobb's development suggested the Packers might not need veteran Donald Driver this season. But Cobb will compete hard for playing time regardless as he continues his development. Remember, Cobb was an early entrant in the draft and won't be 22 until August."
James Jones is still in Cobb's way, but if he's traded (which is probably unlikely) Cobb would no longer only have fantasy value in dynasty formats. He posted the #19 FP/T (1.38) in 2011, though that's not unusual since there were five Green Bay WRs in the top 20 in that category. Regardless, we're not expecting a breakout season for Cobb in 2012 unless he somehow moves into the WR3 role.
