Since Giants RB David Wilson arrived in East Rutherford this spring, he’s been engaging, outgoing and confident. Not once through minicamp, training camp and two preseason games had he shown a bit of nervousness.
Until Monday, when the rookie first-round pick practiced with the starters for the first time.
Wilson, who said his “heart was pounding” when he first heard the news, had some jitters today as well when he once again took reps with the first team. He alternated with Ahmad Bradshaw as the offense worked against a scout-team defense in preparation for Friday’s preseason game against the Chicago Bears.
Wilson expects to be working with the starters that night after picking up the final few carries against the Jacksonville Jaguars and the Jets the past two games. He’d also been at the bottom of the depth chart behind Bradshaw, D.J. Ware, Andre Brown and Da’Rel Scott for all of training camp.
We believe Wilson will finish the season as Bradshaw's primary backup. He's a solid handcuff for the often injured Bradshaw.
