The Panthers made four of the five moves they needed before Tuesday's deadline, with a mild surprise among the early ones.
WR Ryne Robinson, their fourth-round pick in 2007, was released, along with T Gerald Cadogan and DT Lorenzo Williams. They also place rookie G C.J. Davis on injured reserve. He suffered an ankle injury early in camp and wasn't able to show much, and apparently wasn't going to be well in time to cut Saturday.
Panthers coach John Fox said it had more to do with giving Robinson a chance to latch on elsewhere than any residual effect of last year's knee injury.
