Kevin Smith's pessimism is understandable as the Detroit Lions continue to phase out their 2008 third-round draft pick.

Lions coaches currently have more faith in Mikel Leshoure and Joique Bell, who are receiving most of the running back workload, while Smith has become an afterthought.

Smith rushed 29 times for 115 yards and one touchdown, plus had a receiving touchdown, in Detroit's first two games this season. Detroit used him as a receiver on a few plays against the Tennessee Titans, but he has not carried the ball since Week 2.

Fantasy Impact:

Smith can safely be dropped if you were still holding out hope for a return to a significant role.
