NFL.com's Aditi Kinkhabwala reports Charlie Batch will start at quarterback Sunday against the Cleveland Browns, according to a source with direct knowledge of the Steelers' plans. Kinkhabwala confirmed backup quarterback Byron Leftwich sustained fractured ribs in their 13-10 loss to the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday night.
It looks like the earlier report of Byron Leftwich being out "a while" was dead on. Considering how reluctant the Steelers were to put 37 year old Batch into the game Sunday Night, with Leftwich in obvious pain, we can't see them having much faith in Batch's in-game abilities at this point in his career. The Steelers are expected to work out QBs.
