The 25-year-old Jermichael Finley has a contract for 2013 after striking a two-year, $14 million deal with the Packers last offseason.
To get there, however, the Packers will need to pick up the polarizing tight end’s $3.5 million roster bonus due in March before shelling out another $4.45 million for his services next season.
The question general manager Ted Thompson must answer during the offseason is whether he’s willing to pay such a steep price for the 6-foot-5, 247-pound Finley, whose natural athleticism has been tempered during his five years in Green Bay by untimely dropped passes on the field and his outspokenness off of it.
Finley's drops were not as big of an issue in 2012, as he was 8th among TE in reception pct (receptions/targets) after finishing 29th in that category in 2011. He gained at least 50 yards in six of his last seven regular season games.
