Top wide receiver Santana Moss had two receptions for six yards during Week 1 against the New York Giants. No. 2 wideout Malcom Kelly had one reception for six yards in his first career start.
Obviously, the Redskins want more production from their starting receivers, and I expect Coach Jim Zorn to attack the St. Louis Rams with deep passes. Zorn would never admit it, but I just don't think he was comfortable taking a lot of deep shots against the Giants because of their formidable defensive line.
And give credit to the Giants' secondary. Cornerbacks Corey Webster and Terrell Thomas played very well in coverage (Thomas is a former Trojan, so it's not surprising he played well).
"We definitely wanted to get Santana and Malcolm going, it wasn't like we didn't want to get the ball," Campbell said. "But you have to play smart football. You just don't throw the ball if it's not there.
