The Giants’ corps of wide receivers wasn’t exactly deep...

The Giants’ corps of wide receivers wasn’t exactly deep coming into the season, and it’s starting to get even shallower. One week after rookie Hakeem Nicks suffered a foot injury,Domenik Hixon sprained his right knee in the first quarter of the game against the Cowboys and did not return.

It appeared Hixon was attempting to talk Giants vice president of medical services Ronnie Barnes into letting him go back into the game. Hixon was pedaling on the sideline exercise bike while talking to Barnes and then was walking behind the coaches as the offense was on the field.

But a few minutes later, assistant head trainer Steve Kennelly cut the tape off Hixon’s right knee and replaced it with an ice pack and some bandages. It was evident Hixon’s night was over; what remains to be seen is if he’ll miss any more time coming up.
