QBBWW Part 7: Schedule Domination
’Tis the season for degeneracy.
The NFL season is breathing down our collective necks, you’ve likely had your various fantasy football drafts, and all we have to do is wait for that magical Thursday night kickoff.
We’ve run through every conceivable crevice of using the waiver wire to find quarterbacks with fine and dandy matchups, understanding – first and foremost – that we should remain flexible and never commit to the QBBWW system unless it’s necessary.
The goal is to stumble upon an every-week starter. In the meantime, stream the position.
I’d like to take a look at quarterbacks who will likely be on your local waiver wire early this season, and get a grasp of where their best matchups might be in the early going.
Terrelle Pryor
ADP: Un-drafted
The Raiders’ likely Week 1 starter, Pryor is the odds-on favorite to inherit the garbage time crown from Carson Palmer, who proved useful in fantasy last season thanks to huge second half deficits. Pryor has the Tebow Appeal working for him: he scrambles like a mad man and isn’t a prolific passer by any definition. He even has the jump-pass in his game. That’s special.
Pryor, in his only significant playing time of 2012 (W17 vs SD), was the sixth highest scoring fantasy quarterback, racking up 23.9 points on the strength of 49 yards and a touchdown on the ground.
Pryor faces four weak opponents in his first nine weeks, should he keep the starting gig over perpetual under-performer Matt Flynn. Even better: just two strong or moderately strong opponents are on the Raiders’ schedule all season. Pryor has real potential to be a QBBWW gem.
