It's not immediately clear what role WR Robert Meachem will play with the Saints now that young backup receivers Kenny Stills and Nick Toon have emerged as players who look ready to make an impact. But it makes perfect sense for the Saints to at least try and recapture the chemistry that existed when Meachem was a part of their offense from 2007-11.
My guess is they won't try to force him into the mix right away -- as long as their top four receivers stay healthy. But the Saints know they can depend on Meachem if they need a replacement at some point. And in the meantime, if he starts to regain his prime form, then maybe he'll force their hand.
In other words, the roles of Stills and Toon as the team's WR3 and WR4 should be safe for now.
