Eddie Lacy expects to play Week 5

When the Green Bay Packers return from their bye next week, RB Eddie Lacy believes he’ll be in a position to rejoin them on the field.

The Packers’ rookie running back was sidelined before Sunday’s 34-30 loss to Cincinnati due to the concussion he suffered on his first carry in the previous week’s 38-20 win over Washington. In that game, he suffered a helmet-to-helmet hit from safety Brandon Meriweather that garnered a $42,000 league fine.

“Yeah,” Lacy replied when asked if he’ll be back. “Since I wasn’t cleared, I had no intention of playing, but I have a bye week to still get right. When I get back, we’ll see where I go from there.”

Fantasy Impact: 

Packers coach Mike McCarthy actually was hoping Lacy might be able to suit up against the Bengals despite missing the entire week of practice, but that didn't happen. The story says Lacy participated in some small workouts prior to Sunday’s game at Paul Brown Stadium to test himself out and get his heart rate up, but wasn’t sure what final steps he needs to pass to clear his concussion protocol.
