Lions place Brandon Pettigrew on IR

Brandon Pettigrew's season, and perhaps his Detroit Lions career, ended with a Christmas Day trip to injured reserve.

Pettigrew, who will be an unrestricted free agent this offseason, suffered an ankle injury Dec. 16 against Baltimore and hadn't practiced since.

Fantasy Impact:

Joseph Fauria played on a season-high 73 percent of snaps in Week 16 and figures to see a lot of playing time once again with Pettigrew out. The Lions also placed Dorin Dickerson on injured reserve, so Fauria is currently the only tight end on the roster.

Per Bears head coach Matt Eberflus: Ryan Bates remains in the concussion protocol. Elijah Hicks (ankle) and D'Andre Swift (groin) won't practice.

Teven Jenkins will be limited.

This is definitely a situation to keep an eye on, as Johnson would have a huge workload if Swift were to miss Week 12. Homer has three rush attempts and zero targets on the year.
