Saints Beat: Mark Ingram could be eased back into action

Saints RB Mark Ingram started out as the biggest benefactor in the Saints running game, with 143 rushing yards and three touchdown runs in the first two weeks before being sidelined for a month with a broken hand. He’s expected to be back in the lineup this week against the Detroit Lions, though he might be eased into the action since the Saints have the luxury of doing so.

There are only so many touches to go around. But Ingram, Khiry Robinson and Pierre Thomas will all continue to have big moments since the entire Saints’ rushing offense seems to be clicking so well this season.

Fantasy Impact:

While Ingram could play this week it's a very tough matchup against a good Lions defense. As the story points out, the Saints have the luxury of easing him back in with the success of Robinson and Thomas recently, but it sounds like Ingram will certainly have his chance to contribute again. He should probably be considered a higher-end flex option until we see if he picks up where he left off before his hand injury. Owners may just want to take the "wait-and-see" approach this week considering the matchup.
