Streaming Tight Ends: Week 16 Targets

Week 15 epitomized tight ends as a whole in 2014. Following one of our best TEBWW weeks of the season in Week 14, we suffered the worst output from our streaming options to date. Jermaine Gresham was a late scratch, leaving just Jared Cook and Jordan Cameron to lock down the tight end spot. Cook posted 5.2 PPR points in one of the worst all around offensive games of the season, while Jordan Cameron scored 1.4 PPR points in the abomination that was Johnny Manziel’s first NFL start.

TEBWW picks have averaged 7.8 PPR points on the season, which extrapolates to TE15 numbers this year. Optimal streaming picks have put up 12.9 PPR points, on average, which is good enough to hold down the overall TE5 spot.

Scott Chandler at OAK

For the first half of the season, the Raiders were one of the better teams in the league against tight ends, but since week 10 Oakland has allowed 5 touchdowns to opposing tight ends and now rank 25th in aFPA to tight ends, allowing 13.6 schedule adjusted PPR points per game.

Oakland is a bad team all around, but their offense is especially poor which leads to good field position for their opponents, and in turn more red zone opportunities for tight ends. Since Kyle Orton took over at quarterback for Buffalo, the Bills have faced 4 teams ranked in the bottom half of the league in aFPA to tight ends. In those 4 games, Chandler has averaged 13.2 PPR points.

Look for the Raiders offensive woes to continue against a stout Bills defense and for Chandler to get more red zone looks to help him again capitalize on a favorable matchup. The Bills tight end is available in 92% of Yahoo leagues.
