Carson Palmer continued to make a good case for why Maurice Purify deserves the chance to move up to the fourth receiver spot over Jerome Simpson.
Purify is still on the practice squad, and a move to bring him up to the 53-man roster would have to be made tomorrow or Saturday before the team leaves for Pittsburgh. It also brings up an interesting case of who to release. Coach Marvin Lewis and offensive coordinator Bob Bratkowski will make the final decision.
“Everybody takes their own time or their own process to get to where they need to get on the field and he’s found a way to do it faster and done a better job,” said Palmer of Purify. “Not that Jerome can’t do it. Jerome will be out there at some point. But this might be something that makes him realize I had my opportunity and I didn’t take advantage of it. They gave it to him so I better be ready for my opportunity and something that pushes him more.”
