One reason you will want your eyes glued to the television screen is to see whether Bengals tight end Tyler Eifert can repeat his exploits from last Sunday at Oakland. In the opener against the Raiders, he had nine catches for 104 yards and two touchdowns. It was Eifert's first game action since dislocating his right elbow just eight plays into the 2014 season opener.
Much like they attempted to use him last season, the Bengals last Sunday regularly placed Eifert in the seams, throwing him passes that could be caught in single coverage against a smaller safety or slower-footed linebacker. That's the matchup nightmare he could pose all this season if he can stay healthy.
Likely to see veteran Chargers safety Eric Weddle often, Eifert will have to do what he can early to exert his dominance over San Diego's secondary. If for whatever reason he struggles to do that, the Bengals feel good about their other passing options.
Eifert probably won't go unnoticed this week after exploding in Week 1. The fantasy TE spot is usually up and down all year outside of the studs. But, receivers A.J. Green, Marvin Jones and Mohamed Sanu could benefit from any extra attention Eifert receives. So, too, could running back Giovani Bernard, who was dangerous in Cincinnati's short-passing game last week.
