Jordan Reed dealing with concussion, ankle injury

Washington Redskins tight end Jordan Reed suffered a sprained knee and ankle, but the big concern likely will be the concussion he also suffered in Sunday's win over the Philadelphia Eagles.

Reed has endured at least five concussions since he started playing college football, including one in 2013 that sidelined him for the final four games of the season. Reed injured his knee and ankle earlier in the game, but did return until getting the concussion on the game-winning drive. He'll be in the concussion protocol this week to determine if he'll be able to play vs. Atlanta.

“It’s a concern," Redskins coach Jay Gruden said. "The level, these things are all different. Each player and the magnitude of the concussions, you just don't know until they go through the protocol and get tested and all of the necessary steps. I don’t know the severity of it at all.”

Fantasy Impact: 

If Reed has to miss any time, it takes a valuable weapon away from the offense. He's tied with Pierre Garcon with 24 receptions, but has a team-high 278 yards. With DeSean Jackson still sidelined, the coaches consider Reed one of two players who creates the best separation (along with rookie slot receiver Jamison Crowder). The Redskins have Je'Ron Hamm on the practice squad in case they need to replace Reed. They also have Derek Carrier and Anthony Mason already on the roster. Carrier has caught four passes; Mason has only been used as a blocker.
