Eddie Lacy (groin) makes it through conditioning workout

The Green Bay Packers got good news on Monday about Eddie Lacy's groin injury.

Lacy was able to go through a conditioning workout one day after he dropped out of the 37-29 loss at Carolina in the second half and could not return. Coach Mike McCarthy said Lacy had no trouble completing the players' regular day-after-game session.

Lacy, who rushed five times for just 10 yards and lost a fumble against the Panthers, would need to average 99 yards per game over the next eight games to reach 1,100 yards rushing for the third straight season.

“Eddie, he’ll have more opportunities,” offensive coordinator Edgar Bennett said. “I guess [Sunday] was really more injury related than anything else. We’ve definitely got to get him going.”

Fantasy Impact: 

Halfway through the season, Lacy has dealt with two injuries -- a sprained right ankle in Week 2 and the groin on Sunday -- and has only 308 yards rushing. His yards-per-carry average (3.7) is well below his combined average from his two seasons (4.4), the story said. It went on to say even if Lacy’s groin allows him to play this week, there’s no guarantee he will start -- or get the majority of the carries -- on Sunday against the Detroit Lions. With or without injuries, the former workhorse back has slipped behind the more productive James Starks on the running back pecking order.
