Last week Benson did not practice Wednesday and Thursday and was limited on Friday. He said he expects to be on the field on Wednesday as the Bengals begin preparations for Detroit.
“It was discussed to me what the plan was for the long haul,” Benson said. “They definitely want me to be fresh going into the last five games and into the postseason. That’s a good plan. It kind of happened that way with the little setback from the hip thing.
“I was feeling good today but they felt like they were strong and could get it done with the game plan they had. The day’s over now. We got the win and move on to next week.”
When the questions started to change and focus on if the carries should be divided up or if his role was about to change, Benson became a little less cheerful.
“I don’t know. I don’t know. That’s a weird question. I didn’t know I was having to share time,” Benson said. “I don’t know. If it wasn’t like that before I don’t know why it would be like that now.”
Said Palmer about the depth of running backs: “It’s a good problem to have. We have four very physical, capable guys back there, and each of them brings something that’s a little different. Each of them has their special thing. But Cedric and Larry both run the ball very similar; they’re both great guys and great backs.”
