Peterson to remain the focus of opposing defenses

Vikings quarterback Brett Favre keeps torching teams through the air, and yet opposing defenses remain focused on stopping Adrian Peterson.

Sure, Peterson is getting stopped at times. The Chicago Bears held him to an average of 3.4 yards per carry, with a long of just 15 yards.

And what did the Bears get to show for it? A 36-10 beating on Sunday at the Metrodome.

Favre completed 32 of 48 attempts for 392 yards and three touchdowns. With the Bears clamping down on Peterson, it made sense to crank up the passing attack.

"Like I've said before, there's no defensive coordinator in the National Football League that's ever going to come in here and say, 'Well, what we're going to do with these guys is, they're passing it good, we're going to take away the pass and allow them to run the ball,' " Vikings coach Brad Childress said today.
