GB RB A.J. Dillon - Week 7 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 7 at Washington Commanders
So much for standalone value. A.J. Dillon's 55 scoreless yards in Week 6 exemplifies the type of production he is responsible for this season. Dillon has one touchdown through six weeks and has yet to gain 100 yards from scrimmage in any game this season. The Packers offense has not been productive in the wake of Davante Adams' departure, and that takes a big bite out of Dillon's fantasy appeal as the supposed "goal line back" in Green Bay. Stuck in a mediocre offense with a split workload, Dillon is not an appealing starting option right now and is best left on benches in case Aaron Jones suffers an injury.

GB RB A.J. Dillon - Week 6 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 6 vs. New York Jets
A.J. Dillon has 77 touches on the season, which is actually two more than Aaron Jones has despite playing a larger snap share. It is clear that the Packers want to use Dillon when he is on the field, but his fantasy production is lacking due to only having one touchdown in five games. Dillon's workload is about what we expected, but he needs to get more production at the goal line to really feel confident starting him in fantasy matchups. The Jets do not present a particularly difficult matchup but with a split workload and a lack of touchdown opportunity through five weeks, Dillon is a high-risk flex play only.

GB RB A.J. Dillon - Week 5 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 5 vs. New York Giants (London)
A.J. Dillon and Aaron Jones were a productive duo in Week 4 with Jones racking up 115 total yards and Dillon managing 84 yards of his own on 17 carries and one reception. Dillon looks like he has a great chance to out-carry Jones over the course of the season and while Jones still gets more looks in the passing game, Dillon only trails him by two targets on the season with 14 total over four weeks. The Packers have yet to score many rushing touchdowns (three on the season, one going to rookie WR Christian Watson), a figure that should regress in the coming weeks given the healthy workloads of both backs. In Week 5, Dillon will take on a Giants defense that is firmly below average against opposing runners. Dillon and Jones can both be started in fantasy leagues this week.

GB RB A.J. Dillon - Week 4 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 4 vs. New England Patriots
A.J. Dillon's production has tapered off since Week 1 with him having to share the Green Bay RB workload with Aaron Jones and the Packers not having scored many points so far. The good news is Dillon has not had a game with fewer than 10 carries this season and also has eight receptions on 12 targets even with Jones obstructing his path to high target volume. The inevitable truth is that Dillon's fantasy production will likely be inconsistent with the current backfield arrangement in Green Bay. As it currently stands, his ceiling depends heavily on getting short touchdowns at the goal line, an area where he will compete with both Jones and the Green Bay pass catchers. Dillon is workable as a flex in Week 4 against the mediocre Patriots defense, but he brings a low weekly floor with him.

GB RB A.J. Dillon - Week 3 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 3 at Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Even as Aaron Jones exploded in Week 2, A.J. Dillon still saw a strong workload with 18 carries and three targets. That being said, Dillon was far less efficient than Jones on the ground and missed out on the valuable red zone work. Dillon only managed 61 yards on 18 carries (compared to 132 yards on 15 carries for Jones) and it was Jones who got the short receiving touchdown near the goal line. Dillon is a talented player and has a steady role, but it was clear the Packers were making a concentrated effort to get Jones far more involved than he was in Week 1. Dillon will have some good games this season, but the split backfield means he will also have some slow weeks along the way. Week 3 presents a tough matchup for Dillon against Tampa Bay, but he can still be started as a flex option given his involvement in all aspects of the Green Bay offense.

GB RB A.J. Dillon - Week 2 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 2 vs. Chicago Bears
A.J. Dillon played 31 snaps while Aaron Jones got 37, but it was Dillon who was the more productive back. Dillon saw 10 carries to Jones's five, and he also saw one more target than Jones with six. Perhaps most importantly, it was Dillon who got the call on a short rushing touchdown, the Packers' only one of the day. Dillon looks at least as valuable as Jones in the Packers' current backfield setup, making him a great value at his offseason ADP. In Week 2, Dillon and the Packers will look to rebound from a lackluster offensive performance against the Bears at Lambeau Field. With the Packers being 10-point home favorites, there should be plenty of opportunity for both Jones and Dillon to produce. Dillon can be started as a strong flex play or borderline RB2.

GB RB A.J. Dillon - Week 1 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 1 @ Minnesota Vikings
A.J. Dillon will share the Green Bay backfield with Aaron Jones in 2022, but his rookie performance was enough to convince fantasy drafters to take the second-year RB as if he will have substantial standalone value. We will have to evaluate the precise roles in the Packers' backfield after we see how they're deployed in Minnesota, but Dillon will presumably receive many of the short-yardage carries to go along with a share of the early-down work alongside Jones. The key question for Dillon's fantasy outlook will be how much he remains involved in the passing game, an area where he unexpectedly had success in his rookie year. The Vikings defense is a soft matchup that should allow both Dillon and Jones to produce, making Dillon a viable flex play in Week 1.
