Running back A.J. Dillon was placed on injured reserve and was not designated to return, meaning he is done for the year.

Dillon recently suffered another stinger and last week said he was awaiting test results. Head coach Matt LaFleur had said “absolutely there’s a concern” with Dillon’s injury, noting that Green Bay would proceed cautiously.

Dillon, 26, was expected to be the primary backup to running back Jacobs, and the team recently announced the rookie Lloyd will start the season on the PUP list and miss the first four games of the season at least. Wilson and Merriweather are now behind Jacobs, but it's possible the Packers will have to make a move at the position at least until Lloyd comes back.

Marshawn Lloyd is expected to start the season on IR -- they can do that now without missing 2024.

Lloyd is a rookie who injured his hamstring in the first preseason game. He was expected to slide right into the team's RB2 role behind Jacobs. But, that role looks like it now goes back to Dillon, who was unimpressive last year behind Aaron Jones. Lloyd will miss the first four games of the season.

The injury is not considered serious and he's expected to be fine for the season. However, we all know hamstring injuries can be tricky, so the team will be cautious with him, the post said. His time missed could set him back a bit on the depth chart, possibly making Dillon the RB2 to open the season behind Jacobs. Given Dillon's struggles last season, though, many feel Lloyd has a chance to earn the RB2 job at some point.

Matt LaFleur said he didn't think rookie RB MarShawn Lloyd (hip) would be out too long. He said probably would miss the next couple of days.

Lloyd has impressed in spring and it appears he'll be the team's RB2 behind Jacobs once the season gets started. Dillon is likely the third option and while reports say he's in great shape, Lloyd looks like the back you want to own as a backup to Jacobs.

The Packers opted to bring in Jacobs to replace Aaron Jones but are keeping Dillon, who finished 2023 as one of the least efficient running backs in football. Dillon has become an afterthought for fantasy football and should likely remain there.

Christian Watson (hamstring), Jayden Reed (toe), De’Vondre Campbell (neck), Darnell Savage (shoulder), and Elgton Jenkins (shoulder) are present but not practicing.

Emanuel Wilson designated to return off IR and is practicing. A.J. Dillon also practicing after missing Sunday.

We should expect the typical Packers RB split in Week 16, but Jones remains the higher-upside play here, and should be considered a low-end RB2, while Dillon is in FLEX considerations for deep leagues.

Christian Watson is doubtful for Sunday’s game against the Buccaneers.

With Watson's disappointing season continuing, both Romeo Doubs and Jayden Reed should be considered WR3s heading into this weekend.

The Packers are set to play another game without running back Aaron Jones.

Jones was limited in practice all week because of the knee injury that has kept him out of the team’s last two games and he was listed as questionable on Saturday. Tom Pelissero of NFL Media reports that Jones is not expected to play against the Giants on Monday night, however.

If Jones is out, it will be the sixth game he's missed due to injuries this season, the story pointed out. Dillon has served as the lead back in Jones’ absence from the lineup and would continue in that role with Taylor as the No. 2. The Packers could also elevate Drake from the practice squad for further backfield depth, the story went on to say.

The recent increased usage for Dillon hasn't helped to improve his inefficiency on the ground, as he has rushed for 72 yards on 28 attempts (2.57) the last 1.5 games, despite playing behind an average-or-better offensive line. Regardless, Jones' absence makes him fantasy relevant as a solid RB3.

The Packers have used Jayden Reed in a multitude of ways — as a punt returner, on end arounds, on jet sweeps and lined up as a traditional receiver. With what he’s done in those snaps — he’s played 417, more than 59 percent of Green Bay’s offensive snaps, second-most among wide receivers — there’s enough sample size to not only back up A.J. Dillon’s claim of being similar to Randall Cobb, but wonder whether Reed can be even more impactful as he continues to grow in the Packers’ offense.

Among rookie wide receivers, Reed ranks first in rushes of at least 10 yards (four), tied for second in plays of at least 20 yards (10) and third in total touchdowns (six) and yards per catch (13.8).

It's a great story that goes into detail about Reed, his season and what his teammates think of him. As the piece went on to say, the Packers have relied heavily on Reed since Week 1 when they called his number on the second play from scrimmage of the season, returned multiple punts and tied for the team lead with five targets. Entering Week 13, he’s done nothing for that faith to wane, as he ranks second in targets (59) behind only wideout Romeo Doubs (69), second in receptions (36), first in receiving yards (497) and second in total touchdowns (six). The story pointed out Reed may be small but has strong hands and speed that pops.
