WAS RB Antonio Gibson - Week 12 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 12 vs. Seattle Seahawks

Antonio Gibson was solid on the ground last week, rushing 19 times for 95 yards. Although the converted receiver remarkably finished the game without a single target. In fact, he's only averaging 2.3 targets per game, which is odd considering it's something he's good at. Nevertheless, Gibson's shin injury appears to be mostly past him now. In the two games since Washington's bye, Gibson has run the ball 43 times. He should continue to see plenty of work on the ground in Week 12 in a favorable matchup vs. the Seahawks, who are giving up the second-most average fantasy points to running backs this season. Gibson's lack of a role as a receiver hurts him a bit, but he's still a strong RB2 play in Week 12.

WAS RB Antonio Gibson - Week 11 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 11 at Carolina Panthers

The bye week proved beneficial for Antonio Gibson, who finished with a season-high 24 carries in Week 10. He did struggle against a tough Bucs run defense, as he had just 64 yards on the ground (2.6 ypc), but he managed the find the endzone twice for a productive fantasy day (he also finished 2-14 as a receiver). Gibson also played over 60% of the offensive snaps for the first time since Week 2 this season. He, unfortunately, faces another tough defense this week as the Panthers have allowed the fourth-fewest fantasy points to running backs this year. Similar to last week, Gibson will likely be a high-touch, lower-yardage, touchdown-dependent play. He should be viewed as an RB2 play in Week 11.

WAS RB Antonio Gibson - Week 10 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 10 vs. Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Antonio Gibson appears to still be limited by his shin injury as he was out-touched by Jaret Patterson (12 to 11) in Washington's last game. And Gibson is still getting in limited practice sessions during the week because of his injury. He at least had a bye week to heal, so perhaps he'll get more playing time this week. He's played less than 50% of the snaps in his last three games after playing over that threshold in the first five games of the season. Unfortunately for Gibson, he gets to face a brutal Bucs run defense in Week 10, so even if he does play more he could struggle. The Bucs have given up the sixth-most receptions to running backs this year (and that's even with a bye week), so there's a chance he gets a slight boost in production in PPR formats. Gibson should be viewed as an RB2 this week.

WAS RB Antonio Gibson - Week 8 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 8 at Denver Broncos

Antonio Gibson wasn't too limited with his shin injury last week, finishing with 14 carries for 51 yards and two receptions for five yards. He was limited in practice on Wednesday, which is actually good news since he's been not practicing on Wednesdays for most of the season. Although Gibson's season hasn't quite turned out how some had hoped as Washington doesn't use him in the passing game. Gibson's only seen more than two targets in a game twice this year, only finished with more than two receptions once, and only finished above 20 receiving yards in a game once. It's odd considering he's a converted wide receiver from college, but Washington loves J.D. McKissic for that role.

As for Week 8, Gibson gets a tough matchup vs. the Broncos who are 10th in schedule-adjusted fantasy points allowed to running backs. Although Denver did just give up a big rushing day to the Browns a week ago. Still, Gibson should be viewed more as a low-end RB2 play in Week 8.

WAS RB Antonio Gibson - Week 7 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 7 at Green Bay Packers

Antonio Gibson played a season-low 39% of the offensive snaps last week as he missed some action after he re-aggravated his shin injury. In limited playing time, Gibson finished with 10 carries for 44 yards and two catches for no yards. Gibson was absent from practice Wednesday before returning with a limited session on Thursday. We'd expect him to play again, but the shin injury is a concern considering it affected him last week. He gets an OK matchup against the Packers this week, who are 17th in schedule-adjusted fantasy points allowed to running backs. Gibson should be viewed more as an RB2 play this week as his shin injury may limit his touches a bit.

WAS RB Antonio Gibson - Week 6 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 6 vs. Kansas City Chiefs

Antonio Gibson didn't have his best on-ground performance last week, averaging just 3.0 ypc, but his two touchdowns were enough to make fantasy owners happy. Gibson was very involved, tying his season-high of 20 carries (for 60 yards). He's still not really involved as a receiver, seeing just two targets that he caught for 12 yards. But his rushing numbers have made up for his lack of production through the air.

We expect Gibson to continue to play well this week as he gets a good matchup against a bad Chiefs defense. The Chiefs are 19th in schedule-adjusted fantasy points allowed to running backs, and they'd probably be lower if teams actually ran on them. Kansas City has the fifth-fewest rushing attempts allowed by running backs, but has the third-highest yards per carry allowed in the league at 5.2. We like Gibson as a strong RB1 play in Week 6.

WAS RB Antonio Gibson - Week 5 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 5 vs. New Orleans Saints

Antonio Gibson had a solid game last week, finishing with 14 carries for 63 yards and a touchdown. He also caught both of his two targets for 12 yards. Gibson is averaging 16.8 touches for around 90 yards per game and has scored in consecutive weeks. We expected the converted receiver to be more involved in the passing game, but Washington really likes J.D. McKissic in that role. Gibson could struggle a bit this week against the Saints, who have allowed the third-fewest rushing yards to running backs this season. New Orleans has almost allowed as many receiving yards to backs (188) as rushing yards (203) this season. Gibson is also still dealing with a shin injury that held him out of practice early in the week. Since he played last week, we'd expect him to play again this week where he'll be a lower-end RB2 play against the Saints.
