Scouting report

PIT QB Ben Roethlisberger - Week 12, 2016 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 12 at Indianapolis
Roethlisberger threw for just 167 yards in windy conditions as the Steelers relied heavily on the running game and defense last week in Cleveland. He's been decidedly average on the road this season but that hasn't been against the Indianapolis defense. In the previous two meetings with the Colts, Roethlisberger has thrown for 886 yards and 10 touchdowns with no interceptions against the Colts. That works out to over 7,000 yards and 80 TD passes if he played 16 games against Indianapolis. The Colts allow 285 yards passing per game, the worst in the NFL. And this game is indoors. Roethlisberger should break out on the road this week.

PIT QB Ben Roethlisberger - Week 11, 2016 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 11 at Cleveland
Roethlisberger threw for a season-high 408 yards and three touchdowns last week against Dallas. He's been much better at home with 15 touchdown passes in four games as opposed to five TDs on the road in four games. But he's healthy now, and Cleveland's defense is atrocious. It is expected to be windy in Cleveland on Sunday, and Roethlisberger said he will wear a glove to help him spin the ball. He should be a solid start this week against one of the league's worst pass defenses.

PIT QB Ben Roethlisberger - Week 10, 2016 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 10 vs. Dallas
Roethlisberger was at less than 100 yards entering the fourth quarter last week but opened things up and finished with 264 yards passing, one touchdown, one interception and a rushing touchdown in a Blake Bortles-like effort. The rushing touchdown was perhaps the best sign moving forward, as he had to scramble and jump into the end zone, showing he's recovered from his knee injury. Roethlisberger has 51 touchdown passes at home - compared to 19 on the road - since the start of the 2014 regular season. He's at home this week, so you can likely count on multiple scores and a pretty good yardage game. He should be one of the best QBs going this week.

PIT QB Ben Roethlisberger - Week 9, 2016 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 9 at Baltimore
After sitting out two weeks ago against New England, Roethlisberger appears to be back on track to start against the Ravens - which I have been saying all along despite national reports to the contrary. Roethlisberger's road splits since the start of the 2014 season - 18 TD passes, 18 interceptions - aren't great. Part of that streak are a pair of games at Baltimore in which he's thrown no TDs with three interceptions with 217 and 220 yards passing. I would hold off on starting Roethlisberger this week and keep him primed up for a home matchup against Dallas. He has 51 TDs and 13 interceptions at home since the start of the 2014 season.

PIT QB Ben Roethlisberger - Week 6, 2016 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 6 at Miami
After throwing for 380 yards and four touchdowns last week, Roethlisberger remains atop the league lead in TD passes with 15. He hasn't been as good on the road as he has been at home the past couple of seasons, but when facing a bad defense, he's still solid. He has three TD passes in two of his last three road games - at Cleveland and Washington - so there's little reason to believe he won't tear up a Miami defense that just allowed Marcus Mariota to throw for three scores.

PIT QB Ben Roethlisberger - Week 5, 2016 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 5 vs. New York Jets
What do you give the AFC Offensive Player of the Week after he threw for 300 yards and five TDs against a good KC secondary? How about a struggling Jets secondary? Roethlisberger has now thrown at least three TDs in five consecutive home games. Considering the Jets have allowed 8 TD passes in four games and are allowing 285 yards per game through the air, Roethlisberger is a very solid start this week (despite some offensive line issues).

PIT QB Ben Roethlisberger - Week 4, 2016 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 4 vs. Kansas City
Roethlisberger was 12 of 18 targeting Antonio Brown last week and was 12-for-26 targeting everyone else as he struggled, throwing for 257 yards and no touchdowns with an interception and a lost fumble. Getting Le'Veon Bell back this week will help that tremendously. Kansas City is fourth in fantasy points allowed to opposing QBs, so it won't be easy this week, but since 2014, Roethlisberger has thrown 44 touchdown passes at home, where he plays much better. Roethlisberger is a QB1 this week, but there are some easier matchups available.
