Scouting report

JAX WR Brian Thomas Jr. - Week 16 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 16 at Las Vegas Raiders

Brian Thomas has been on a hot streak of late, posting four straight games with at least 75 receiving yards, including a big day last week against the Jets with 105 and two touchdowns on ten catches. Look for that streak to continue this week in a very favorable matchup against the Raiders and their leaky secondary. Yes, the Raiders rank 5th against wide receivers but that's due to most teams being able to keep the ball on the ground. Thomas has WR1 upside this week.

JAX WR Brian Thomas Jr. - Week 15 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 15 vs. New York Jets

Mac Jones sure knew where to throw the football last week. Brian Thomas saw a season-high 12 targets last week against the Titans. That turned into 86 yards on a season-high eight catches for the rookie. He has at least 75 yards in three straight games heading into a Week 15 meeting with the Jets. The secondary is still strong for the Jets, who are tied with the Lions with just 11 passing touchdowns allowed this season. But as long as the volume is there -- Thomas has 22 targets in the last two weeks -- Thomas will have enough fantasy value to warrant being a WR2 or a flex option for the playoffs.

JAX WR Brian Thomas Jr. - Week 14 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 14 at Tennessee Titans

Despite the Jaguars having to go back to Mac Jones at quarterback, Brian Thomas still finished with 76 yards and a touchdown against the Texans, so it wasn't all bad. Thomas' talent is able to overcome whoever is at quarterback. We know now it'll be Jones the rest of the way with Trevor Lawrence on injured reserve with a concussion. Thomas gets the Titans this week who typically have a good secondary but did give up three scores combined to Terry McLaurin and Nico Collins in the last two weeks. Thomas remains a solid WR2 going forward, especially in a week with six teams on a bye.

JAX WR Brian Thomas Jr. - Week 13 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 13 vs. Houston Texans

Brian Thomas looked like he was over, or at least mostly over, his chest injury last week, catching five passes (seven targets) for 82 yards, his most yards since Week 7. One of his better games this season came in Week 4 against the Texans, when he posted 86 yards and a touchdown on six catches. That game started a stretch of four touchdowns in five games. Perhaps he can start another stretch this week as he has been held scoreless in three straight games. Part of that was due to Mac Jones being at quarterback. He likely gets Trevor Lawrence back this week. Thomas is a WR2 this week.

JAX WR Brian Thomas Jr. - Week 11 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 11 at Detroit Lions

It may be too soon to say the rookie wall has hit Brian Thomas, but he has just 34 yards on four catches (seven targets) in the last two weeks. That was against two of the top defenses in the league in Philadelphia and Minnesota. Now he gets Detroit and should see plenty of Lions CB Carlton Davis. The offense will also be limited if Mac Jones gets another start. Thomas is still the Jags WR to own, but it's a low ceiling this week for the rookie.

JAX WR Brian Thomas Jr. - Week 10 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 10 vs. Minnesota Vikings

Perhaps limited by his chest contusion, Brian Thomas caught just two passes for 22 yards last week against the Eagles. He is still practicing in a limited capacity this week so he may not be 100% this week in a tough matchup against the Vikings. In addition, it's looking like Mac Jones will start this week in place of the injured Trevor Lawrence. Thomas can still be considered a WR2 as the top wide receiver in Jacksonville, but will likely have a questionable tag going into the weekend.

JAX WR Brian Thomas Jr. - Week 9 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 9 at Philadelphia Eagles

Brian Thomas is currently limited with the chest contusion he suffered in Week 8 against the Packers. Keep an eye on his status but if he can play, he's now the clear WR1, even more so than he was before now that Christian Kirk is out for the season. He's a top-15 option against the Eagles, who have had their moments getting beat but are getting better by the week.
