Scouting report

SF QB Brock Purdy - 2024 Fantasy Football Outlook

Fantasy Upside

A UCL injury suffered in the 2022-23 NFC Championship Game against the Eagles depressed Brock Purdy's value in 2023 fantasy drafts. Purdy rewarded those who had faith in him with a top-six fantasy finish with almost 4,300 passing yards and 31 touchdowns. He's not the flashiest quarterback around, but when the 49ers need big throws, Purdy has been there to make them happen. Purdy did all he could to give the 49ers a chance in the Super Bowl. Even if Brandon Aiyuk isn't around, Purdy still has plenty of weapons to throw to.

Fantasy Downside

Purdy may have other weapons to throw to, but it sure would be nice if Aiyuk was around. That would only elevate the offense, and Purdy's value, even higher. There will also be games where Purdy won't be asked to do much, so his weekly fantasy value could take a hit at times. Purdy had five games last season with less than 15 fantasy points.

2024 Bottom Line

Purdy has become a steady and reliable fantasy quarterback who should continue to at least flirt with top 6-8 numbers in fantasy circles. He's our QB11 heading into drafts, which feels like fair value for a quarterback you can grab in Rounds 8-9.

SF QB Brock Purdy - Week 17 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 17 at Washington Commanders

It was an extremely forgettable Christmas evening for Brock Purdy, who engineered a lopsided loss to the Ravens. He wound up with 255 yards and four interceptions before leaving the game with a shoulder stinger. Purdy has had a few stinkers this season, but he’s largely been efficient and productive. He’s still second in the league in both passing yards and touchdown passes.

This week, Purdy should get back on track in a terrific matchup against Washington. The Commanders rank dead last in aFPA to opposing quarterbacks. Watch his injury status coming off that stinger, but if he’s ready to go, he should be among the league leaders in fantasy points this week. Start him.

SF QB Brock Purdy - Week 16 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 16 vs. Baltimore Ravens

Brock Purdy leads the league in passing yards, touchdowns, and quarterback rating coming off another excellent performance against the Cardinals last week. In a commanding victory, Purdy threw four touchdown passes, his third game with that many this season. Purdy now has 31 touchdowns - including two rushing - and only seven interceptions on the season and is firmly in the MVP conversation.

This week, Purdy faces a Ravens defense that ranks 10th in aFPA to opposing quarterbacks. Temper expectations for the efficient young passer, but he’s still worth starting as a middle-of-the-road QB1 option, even in a tough matchup. This has “game of the week” potential and all eyes will be on the two quarterbacks.

SF QB Brock Purdy - Week 15 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 15 at Arizona Cardinals

Brock Purdy had another nice game last week as he threw for 368 yards, two touchdowns, and a pick in a convincing victory over the Seahawks. The 49ers are now in the driver’s seat in the NFC and Purdy’s 25 touchdowns - plus two rushing - and seven interceptions have him getting some MVP buzz.

This week, Purdy faces an Arizona defense that ranks 20th in aFPA to opposing quarterbacks. In a nice matchup, coming off a hot streak and surrounded by a healthy stable of phenomenal weapons, consider Purdy a must-start. We have him ranked as a solid QB1 option this week.

SF QB Brock Purdy - Week 14 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 14 vs. Seattle Seahawks

Brock Purdy had a great game against the Eagles last week. He threw for 314 yards and four touchdowns, completing 70.4% of his passes in a dominant victory over the NFC’s number one seed. Purdy now has 23 touchdowns and six interceptions, adding a pair of scores on the ground. He has some of the best weapons in the league and he runs Kyle Shanahan’s offense with startling efficiency.

This week, Purdy faces a Seahawks defense that ranks 10th in aFPA to opposing quarterbacks. Purdy didn't need to do much against this Seattle team a couple weeks ago, but the Seahawks made it quite a game against Dallas last week. Still, the efficiency he’s displayed and the talent around him make him a solid QB1 option this week. Start him.

SF QB Brock Purdy - Week 13 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 13 at Philadelphia Eagles

Brock Purdy didn’t need to do much in a victory over the Seahawks on Thanksgiving. He wound up with 209 yards, a touchdown, and a pick-six in a lopsided game that saw 30 rushing attempts for the 49ers. Aside from the interception, Purdy continued his run of efficiency, completing 70% of his passes. He now has 21 touchdowns - including two rushing - and six interceptions on the year.

This week, Purdy has a great matchup in what should be a more competitive game against the Eagles. Philadelphia ranks 30th in aFPA to opposing quarterbacks and were just in a shootout with Josh Allen. Expect Purdy to put up big numbers in a game where the 49ers will likely need to keep up on the scoreboard. We have him ranked as a quality QB1 option this week.

SF QB Brock Purdy - Week 12 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 12 at Seattle Seahawks

Brock Purdy and the 49ers seem to be back firing on all cylinders with two consecutive lopsided victories, and two consecutive games with three touchdown passes for the second-year quarterback out of Iowa State. Purdy completed 84 of his passes for 333 yards against the Tampa Bay defense last week and now has 18 touchdowns - plus two rushing - compared to five interceptions on the year.

This week, Purdy faces a Seattle defense that has been inconsistent overall this season, and ranks 25th in aFPA to opposing quarterbacks. Purdy has been so efficient lately, he’s worth considering as a fringe-QB1 option, but temper expectations in what’s usually a pretty competitive matchup.
