Scouting report

JAX WR Christian Kirk - 2024 Fantasy Football Outlook

Fantasy Upside

With Calvin Ridley now in Tennessee, Christian Kirk could be considered the WR1 in Jacksonville. Ridley's 136 targets have to be distributed somehow, so you have to believe a few of those will go Kirk's way. Kirk saw 85 targets in 2023 and that was with missing five games, so Kirk should see 100+ targets.

Fantasy Downside

Kirk is coming off groin and core injuries that cost him the season's final five games as the Jaguars collapsed in the home stretch. He also has a flashy rookie in Brian Thomas and Gabe Davis is also in the mix on the outside for targets. And of course, Evan Engram will be Trevor's Lawrence safety valve. All that caps Kirk's ceiling.

2024 Bottom Line

Kirk sits atop the depth chart for the Jaguars and will see a healthy amount of targets. Given his role and the other weapons, Kirk should be considered a WR3/Flex with WR2 upside.

JAX WR Christian Kirk - Week 13 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 13 vs. Cincinnati Bengals

Christian Kirk tied for the team lead with 89 receiving yards against the Texans, catching four of his seven targets along the way to give him 10.9 Half-PPR points. But this was only good enough for the WR30 in Week 12, inline with his seasonal average of WR28 and 10.8 points per game.

Kirk should be able to do better against the Bengals this week, with Cincinnati ranking 22nd in aFPA to wide receivers. Even with Kirk not earning targets at the same clip as in 2022, he should be viewed as a solid WR2 option in Week 13.

JAX WR Christian Kirk - Week 12 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 12 at Houston Texans

While Calvin Ridley went off against the Titans, Christian Kirk endured a more sedate afternoon's work. Kirk drew just six targets, catching three for 48 yards on his way to 6.3 Half PPR points. He finished as the WR45 last week.

The Texans should be a team that Kirk can do well against, ranking 16th in aFPA to wide receivers in 2023. But there is the danger that Ridley once again overtakes Kirk in the target totem pole, making it hard to trust either of them above solid WR2 prospects this week.

JAX WR Christian Kirk - Week 11 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 11 vs. Tennessee Titans

On a rough day for the Jaguars offense, Christian Kirk put up Christian Kirk's numbers in Week 10. He finished as the WR27 with 11.4 Half-PPR points, which was a tick above his seasonal average of 11.3 per game. Kirk is the WR24 this season in points per game.

Kirk should be able to deliver his usual output against a Titans team ranking 21st in aFPA to wide receivers this season. Kirk's role and output make him the Jaguars' WR1 at present but don't expect too much fantasy goodness from this role. He should be good for mid-to-low-range WR2 output this week.

JAX WR Christian Kirk - Week 10 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 10 vs. San Francisco 49ers

Christian Kirk comes off his bye week in possession of the No.1 wide receiver chair in Jacksonville...though just barely. Kirk has seen 60 targets so far this season, while his stablemate Calvin Ridley has 58 looks. Kirk has done more with his opportunities though, and averages 11.3 Half-PPR points per game, good for WR25 in points per game.

Kirk has a surprisingly good matchup in Week 10, with the 49ers ranking all the way down at 27th in aFPA to wide receivers this season. Look for him to post high-end WR2 numbers this week.

JAX WR Christian Kirk - Week 8 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 8 at Pittsburgh Steelers

Christian Kirk put in another Christian Kirk-type performance against the Saints in Week 7, catching six balls for 90 yards and a touchdown. He's gone over 75 receiving yards in three of his last four games. Kirk was a WR1 last week, with his 16.0 Half-PPR points good enough for a WR9 finish for the week. Kirk averages 11.9 fantasy points per game in 2023, good for WR22.

Wide receivers have really enjoyed themselves against the Steelers this season, as evidenced by their ranking dead last in aFPA to the position. It should be safe to fire up Kirk as a strong WR2 in Week 8.

JAX WR Christian Kirk - Week 7 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 7 at New Orleans Saints

Christian Kirk had his quietest game since Week 1, with just three catches for 49 yards on six targets. He did find the end zone though, and this helped him to 12.4 Half-PPR points, just a tick over his seasonal average of 11.4. Kirk was the WR22 a week ago and sits at WR23 in points per game.

It's getting pretty safe to project Kirk as a weekly WR2 option this season, and we can probably do the same this week against the Saints. The Saints are no mugs when it comes to defending wide receivers, ranking 14th in aFPA to the position. But Kirk has a fairly safe floor without a major ceiling, which makes him a trustworthy asset.
