Scouting report

ARI WR Christian Kirk - Week 13 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 13 vs. Los Angeles Rams

Christian Kirk had only 41 yards against the 49ers before the bye last week, but he was targeted a team-high nine times and caught six passes. Kirk has been effective in most games when on the field, and he’s averaging 8.9 targets per game, giving him upside in any week he’s starting. While his three-touchdown performance in Week 10 was largely due to a great matchup with the Bucs, he’s scored double-digit PPR points in five out of eight games this season.

This week, Kirk should do well against a Rams defense that ranks 20th in aFPA to opposing wide receivers, and just got torched by the Ravens for five touchdown passes on Monday night. Kirk may draw the coverage of Jalen Ramsey, which could hurt his numbers a bit, but this game could be a shootout given the state of each defense and Kirk should benefit. We have him as a borderline WR2/WR3 this week.

ARI WR Christian Kirk - Week 11 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 11 at San Francisco 49ers

Christian Kirk blew up last week against the struggling Buccaneers pass defense, catching six balls for 138 yards and three touchdowns. Kirk led the team with 10 targets, and he now has at least five targets in every game this season, with at least 10 in four of seven outings. Kirk seems to be a focal point of the Arizona passing game, and if he can stay healthy, he should be considered an excellent long-term fantasy asset.

This week, Kirk is a risky start however against a tough 49ers defense. He was held to just two catches and eight yards just two weeks ago against this same defense, and San Francisco ranks second in aFPA to opposing wide receivers. It’s hard to ignore Kirk after a three-touchdown performance, but in a tough matchup, he should be considered a WR3 option this week.

ARI WR Christian Kirk - Week 10 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 10 at Tampa Bay Buccaneers

After catching eight balls against the Saints, Christian Kirk struggled against a tough 49ers defense last week, catching just two of the five passes thrown his way for eight yards. He added another eight yards on a single carry, which isn’t much, but he has attempted a rush in four of six games this season, showing the Cardinals’ commitment to putting the ball in his hands.

This week, Kirk should rebound in an excellent matchup against the Buccaneers. Tampa Bay ranks dead last in aFPA to opposing wide receivers this season, and they were torched by Tyler Lockett and D.K. Metcalf last week. Fantasy owners needing help at the position on a week full of byes should consider using Kirk as a low-end WR2 with upside against a struggling pass defense.

ARI WR Christian Kirk - Week 9 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 9 vs. San Francisco 49ers

Christian Kirk came back strong after a quiet return from injury in Week 7, catching eight of the 11 balls thrown his way against the Saints for 79 yards. He added a 19-yard run and it was good to see him touch the ball so frequently, picking up where he left off after averaging 10.7 targets per game over the first three games of the season.

This week, Kirk faces a tough 49ers defense that ranks second in aFPA to opposing receivers this season and largely shut down Curtis Samuel and D.J. Moore last week. Kirk has some potential with the targets he’s been getting, but the matchups make it difficult to trust him in anything other than deep leagues. Fantasy owners should stay away from the Cardinals’ offense if possible.

ARI WR Christian Kirk - Week 6 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 6 vs. Atlanta Falcons

Christian Kirk missed last week’s match against the Bengals and he’s not a sure thing to start against the Falcons this week, so fantasy owners should be sure to monitor his status closely before relying on him. That being said, if he does start against a terrible Falcons defense, he’s worth a dart throw as a WR3 option in deep leagues. Kirk was averaging nine targets per game before missing last week and the Falcons got torched by DeShaun Watson for five touchdowns on Sunday. Expect lots of offense, and some of the secondary receivers for the Cardinals could thrive as a result.

ARI WR Christian Kirk - Week 5 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 5 at Cincinnati Bengals

Christian Kirk had four catches for 37 yards on five targets last week against the Seahawks. He injured his ankle, and he’s unlikely to play this week, so fantasy owners should make certain to keep an eye on his status heading into Week 5. If he’s active, he’s still risky coming off an injury, but he has a great matchup against the Bengals, who just allowed six catches and 77 yards to Diontae Johnson on Monday night. If he plays, he has a chance to produce, but he’s super risky with a bum ankle.

ARI WR Christian Kirk - Week 4 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 4 vs. Seattle Seahawks

Christian Kirk only had 59 yards last week against the Panthers, but he led the team with 10 receptions on 12 targets. He’s averaging 10.3 targets per game so far this season, giving him a high floor, particularly in PPR formats. The Cardinals have had over 300 passing yards twice in the first three games after averaging only 180 passing yards per game all of last season. We don’t know if rookie quarterback Kyler Murray will win a lot of games, but we already can see his impact on the fantasy potential in the Arizona receiving corps.

This week, Kirk faces the Seahawks, who allowed big numbers to John Ross in Week 1, but tightened up against opposing receivers the last two weeks. With Kirk’s target share, however, he’s always a threat to put up chunk yards and a long score, making him a low-end WR2 with upside this week.
