JAX WR Christian Kirk - Week 2 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 2 vs. Indianapolis Colts

Christian Kirk was paid big money to come into Jacksonville and be the focal point of the passing attack. After one week, this situation seems to have come to pass. Kirk commanded a 30.8% target share in Week 1, reeling in six of his 12 targets for 117 yards. His deeds earned him 14.7 fantasy points in Half PPR formats, giving him WR19 numbers for the week.

The Colts allowed the Texans wide receivers to combine for 12 receptions and 139 yards last week, but managed to hold them out of the end zone. Kirk is not likely to dismantle the Colts' secondary in Week 2, but if his Week 1 usage carries over then he should be able to remain a viable WR2 option.

JAX WR Christian Kirk - Week 1 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 1 at Washington Commanders

Christian Kirk enjoyed a career year as a member of the Arizona Cardinals in 2021, reeling in 77 passes for 998 yards with five touchdowns to boot. His success in the real world didn't make him a fantasy superstar, but he had some moments. Kirk averaged 10.1 Half PPR points per game and finished as a top-12 player twice, but only finished as the WR26 on the season.

Kirk signed a lucrative free-agent deal with the Jaguars this offseason and looks set to be the featured wide receiver in the offense. On paper, he has a pretty good debut ahead of him. The Commanders ranked 30th in aFPA allowed to wide receivers last season. But at this point, we still don't really know what to make of this team, the offense or the passing attack. Kirk should be seen as a WR3 in Week 1.

JAX WR Christian Kirk - 2022 Fantasy Football Outlook

2022 Fantasy Upside
Spend, spend, spend! As Profootballtalk.com put it, "Jacksonville continues to try to buy its way out of dysfunction..." The Jaguars started racking up their tab by agreeing to terms with Christian Kirk on a four-year contract worth up to $84 million. Based on that contract, Kirk will be asked to play a major role as the Jaguars try to build a better offense around quarterback Trevor Lawrence in head coach Doug Pederson's first season with the team. Kirk averaged 640 receiving yards over his first three years in the NFL before breaking through in 2021 with 982 yards on 77 catches. Not only were these career highs, but he averaged more yards per game than more proven teammates DeAndre Hopkins and A.J. Green. It made him a key part of an offense that finished 10th in the NFL in passing yards and 11th in total points. Arizona faded down the stretch after a hot start, finishing 11-6 before suffering a first-round loss to the Rams. Kirk was still a key part of the success as a consistent option who topped 50 receiving yards in 11 of 18 games, including the playoffs.

2022 Fantasy Downside
Kirk, who has yet to break the 1,000-yard mark as a pro, has never demonstrated the ability to serve as a true NFL WR1 -- and to handle the kind of coverage and attention that comes with it.

2022 Bottom Line
With a competent coaching staff, a talented-but-unproven QB and a WR1 paycheck, Kirk is a player who is positioned to outproduce your draft-day investment.

ARI WR Christian Kirk - Week 17 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 17 at Dallas Cowboys

Christian Kirk had only 48 yards last week against the Colts, but he caught seven of his nine targets and now has 21 targets over his last two games. Kirk seems to be benefiting from the lack of DeAndre Hopkins in the offense, and although he’s been wildly inconsistent all year – cough… career – it’s still worth noting the uptick in targets.

This week, Kirk faces a Cowboys defense that ranks 24th in aFPA to opposing wide receivers. The Cardinals are likely going to need to throw the ball, and as mercurial of a performer as Kirk has been for fantasy managers, this might be a good week to take the risk with him. We have him ranked as a fringe WR2 option this week, making it worth starting him if you need help at the position.

ARI WR Christian Kirk - Week 16 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 16 vs. Indianapolis Colts

Christian Kirk had a great game last week against the Lions. He was the lone offensive bright spot with nine catches, 94 yards and a touchdown. Kirk is the flagship member of the Christian Kirk All-Stars – trademark, Eakins & Niles, Inc. – which is a wide receiver who is good every other week. As such, start him at your own risk, especially following a nice outing.

This week, Kirk faces a Colts defense that ranks seventh in aFPA to opposing wide receivers. So, it’s a bad matchup, and theoretically on his “off” week (albeit, he does have two straight weeks of 80-plus yards). He’s a risky option, but has a little upside, given the absence of DeAndre Hopkins. We have him as a risk-reward WR3 option this week and should be treated as such.

ARI WR Christian Kirk - Week 15 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 15 at Detroit Lions

Christian Kirk had three catches for 86 yards against the Rams Monday night and was targeted six times. Good to see six targets from him, but his production has been all over the place for much of the season. This week, Kirk faces a Lions defense that ranks sixth in aFPA to opposing wide receivers. Despite the tough matchup, with DeAndre Hopkins expected to miss the remainder of the regular season, Kirk could see extra work headed his way. Consider him a boom-or-bust WR3 option in most leagues.

ARI WR Christian Kirk - Week 14 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 14 vs. Los Angeles Rams

Christian Kirk struggled last week, catching just one of his three targets for four yards. Kirk has been inconsistent as a fantasy option for much of his career, and the Cardinals have been excellent at spreading the ball around all season. That might work for their win-loss record and passing efficiency, but it hasn’t been good for fantasy managers looking at lineup decisions.

This week, Kirk faces a Rams defense that ranks 26th in aFPA to opposing wide receivers. This game could be high-scoring between two very good offenses. With a nice matchup and what should be a solid game script, Kirk has WR3 potential. We have him ranked just outside our top 30 receivers this week and he’s a boom-or-bust option for fantasy managers.
