Scouting report

ARI WR Christian Kirk - Week 12 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 12 at New England Patriots

Christian Kirk caught four of six balls thrown his way last week against Seattle, gaining 50 yards. It was his second straight week without a touchdown after scoring six in his previous four outings. Kirk has been very touchdown-dependent, with just one game over 100 yards this season. However, he remains a solid, big-play upside option in most weeks due to the prolific offense he’s a part of and his nose for the end zone.

This week, Kirk faces a Patriots defense that ranks 19th in aFPA to opposing wide receivers. Kirk has boom-or-bust potential based on his reliance on finding the end zone, but he’s been successful enough lately to warrant consideration in nice matchups. These aren’t 2019’s Patriots, so Kirk has solid WR3 value in lineups this week.

ARI WR Christian Kirk - Week 11 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 11 at Seattle Seahawks

Christian Kirk had a quiet day against the Bills last week, catching four passes for just 27 yards. He was targeted six times though, and he’s averaging 5.8 targets per game this season. Kirk has been largely touchdown-dependent, with just one game over 100 yards, but he’s found the end zone six times in a prolific offense, so it’s possible the touchdowns will continue.

This week, Kirk faces a Seahawks defense that ranks dead last in aFPA to opposing wide receivers. Kirk was held to just 37 yards against the Seahawks a few weeks ago, but also had two touchdowns and five receptions. Kirk has excellent potential in a nice matchup, but he’s not without risk. Consider him a WR3 option with upside.

ARI WR Christian Kirk - Week 10 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 10 vs. Buffalo Bills

It might be time to stop completely doubting Christian Kirk, who has six touchdowns in his last five games, including 123 yards and a score on five receptions last week against the Dolphins. Kirk isn’t without risk, as he’s run hot-and-cold for much of the past season and a half, but his upside is significant as a playmaker on an offense that ranks sixth in the league in points per game.

Kirk faces a Bills defense that ranks ninth in aFPA to opposing wide receivers. While not a great matchup, Kirk has been so productive lately – particularly at finding the end zone- that it’s hard not to consider him a viable option in any week. Keep him active as a low-end WR2 option this week, despite the tough matchup.

ARI WR Christian Kirk - Week 9 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 9 vs. Miami Dolphins

Christian Kirk has some of the strangest stat lines. Over his past two games, he’s combined for a modest seven catches and 123 yards, but he’s found the end zone four times! He’s had two touchdowns in each of two straight games, and has five touchdowns over his past four outings. That seems unsustainable, but the fact that he’s averaged 5.75 targets during that span is encouraging.

This week, Kirk faces a Dolphins defense that ranks 19th in aFPA to opposing wide receivers. Kirk has upside, but he remains a risky, boom-or-bust option. We have him ranked just inside our top-30 wide receivers this week, making him a low-end WR3 in most formats.

ARI WR Christian Kirk - Week 7 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 7 vs. Seattle Seahawks

Christian Kirk only caught two of the three passes thrown his way last week against the Cowboys, but both of them were touchdowns, including an 80-yarder, and he ended up with 86 yards on the day. That seems pretty fluky, especially considering he’s averaging just 4.8 targets per game this year. Kirk is worth considering as a back-of-the-roster addition in most leagues, but he’s hard to trust.

This week, he’s not a bad risky desperation play. We have him ranked as a low-end WR3 against a vulnerable Seahawks defense that ranks dead last in aFPA to opposing wide receivers. If you have a steadier option, don’t risk it. But if you’re in dire need of someone in your lineup with some upside, Kirk might be worth considering.

ARI WR Christian Kirk - Week 6 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 6 at Dallas Cowboys

Christian Kirk has not been good this year, but he does have 12 targets over the past two weeks and just caught five balls for 78 yards – both season-highs – last week against the Jets. Kirk is risky to bank on, but he has some upside this week in a great matchup against the Cowboys. Dallas ranks 29th in aFPA to opposing wide receivers, giving Kirk upside in deep leagues for owners needing an injury or bye week replacement.

ARI WR Christian Kirk - Week 3 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 3 vs. Detroit Lions

Christian Kirk caught two balls for 57 yards last week, but was only targeted four times. He’s being out-snapped and out-targeted by Larry Fitzgerald, making it hard to trust him in fantasy lineups. He still has upside as a playmaker, but falling third in the pecking order as far as snaps and targets go makes it hard to roster him in most leagues. Even in a great matchup against the Lions this week, fantasy owners should steer clear of Kirk until he shows he’s going to increase his role in the offense.
